There’s a hidden, inner strength that you cannot find unless you push yourself through adversity.
The victim thinks he knows how the universe should work. When it doesn’t treat him the way he “deserves,” he concludes the world is against him.
Most wrongs that people commit cause no lasting damage; if you were to let go of the initial hurt, you could go on with life immediately. But you don’t. You obsess about what was done to you in the past. As a result, you turn your back on your own future.
“My father had only one way of wielding his authority—he used a belt.” That kind of leadership breeds a fear and resentment that eventually weakens it.
