They are filled61 with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice. They are rife with62 envy, murder, strife, deceit, hostility. They are gossips, 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient to parents, 1:31 senseless, covenant-breakers,63 heartless, ruthless.

The Condemnation of the Moralist
For on whatever grounds6 you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.
Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know11 that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

Certainly not, for we have already charged that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin,
“There is no one righteous, not even one, 3:11 there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God. 3:12 All have turned away, together they have become worthless;
there is no one who shows kindness, not even one.
ruin and misery are in their paths, 3:17 and the way of peace they have not known.”20

For no one is declared righteous before him23 by the works of the law,
