How, though, does the Spirit enlighten us to know the love of God? Quite simply, by opening our eyes to see the glory of Christ. That is how he comforts believers. As Jesus said, “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me” (Jn 15:26). Knowing Christ—and through him, the Father—is the life the Spirit gives.
