I have lots of moments I’d like to hold onto forever, but I’m afraid they will always be overshadowed by that one horrible memory I can’t let go of.
“Yes, Kate, I’m going to miss you. I’m so damn in love with you, I can barely stand to spend a few hours apart from you, and now we’re going to be miles and hours apart. It sucks. It really fucking sucks,” he says, lowering his voice a little more with each word.
“My fact for the day: I wanted to come over here as soon as you drove away yesterday. I want to know you. I want to know what it is that made you cry, but more than that, I want to know what I have to do to make you happy again,” he says, his voice soft.
He places his finger under my chin, lifting it so my eyes meet his. “I only want to know you.”
The sun may not be out today, but I feel warmth shining through my soul as I’m able to forget everything.
“I can’t make promises, Kate. I want to get to know you, and I want to be there for you, but I don’t think being your friend is going to work for me anymore. I want to kiss you whenever I want. I want to hold you. I want you to tell me all of your secrets and eventually tell you all of mine. I want you in my life,” he says, placing his index finger under my chin.
“From now on . . .” kiss. “When it rains . . .” kiss. “Think of me.”
It’s a moment I’ll never forget . . . the moment Asher Hunt kissed my fears away. I’ve spent two years waiting for the sun, and all I’ve needed was him.
Love is the most powerful emotion that lives inside us all. And when you have it, it can help diminish all the painful emotions that bury themselves too deep to be seen.
“I’m going to do more than that, Kate. I’m going to kiss every inch of your skin, and when I’m done, you’re going to feel it right here,” he whispers, placing his hand over my exposed chest.
“Make me forget. I want to feel your hands on my skin. I want to hear your voice in my head over and over, saying words I want to remember instead of ones I want to forget. I want you to touch everything inside of me . . . every part of me.”
“I’ll erase everything he left inside you,” he whispers against my lips, sliding his hand between our chests, covering my rapidly beating heart.
I feel like he was sent here to awaken my soul, but he chose not to stop there. He awakened everything.
“I need to know that you’ll do everything you just told me you wanted to do and more. And, I don’t want you to do it for me. I need you to do it for you.”
“No,” he whispers, leaning down to place a feather-like kiss to my lips. “I shouldn’t ever have to let you go.”
“You don’t have to. No matter if we’re together or apart, I’m always with you. I’m alive because of you,” I cry, placing my palm to his chest.
“You don’t live because of me. You live because you let me love you. You made the choice to breathe all on your own . . . I just helped you find the strength to inhale.”
“I was prepared to leave this Earth until I met you, and now I don’t want to be anywhere but here with you. I love you so damn much, Kate.”
I use my hands to pull his face up to mine. “I’ll never regret you.”
“Loving you is easy, but it makes this so much harder.”
“I told you that every star in the sky was made for you, and they were, Kate. You light up my world even in my darkest moments.”
“When it rains, Kate. Remember me.”
He’s the person who showed me that there is a way to get past everything that ever held me down. He gave me a second chance.
There are lots of things I’d like to go back and change, but falling in love with Kate Alexander is not one of those things.
I also realize that there’s a difference between soul mates and true love. Looking at the surface, they are similar, but when I dug deep down inside, I found they were different.
It’s exactly the moment my dream became a reality. Beau is my light, my stars, my sun . . . he gives me hope. He’s where my new life begins.
