If we were to “read” the mind of someone and peer at exactly what is going on in her neocortex, it would be very difficult to interpret her memories, whether we were to take a look at patterns that are simply stored in the neocortex waiting to be triggered or those that have been triggered and are currently being experienced as active thoughts.
