“My stomach, I think.” I plucked the glass back from her hand, ignoring the frisson of charge that shot down my hand as our fingers brushed, and downed the remaining liquid. “Would you like me to baby-bird it back to you? Glenfiddich sounds better anyway.”
The air crackled with the static of my magic, and Devanna shivered as a whisper of it ghosted through her. “Eyes on me, hellcat.”
“Say my name, Devanna. Say who you want to fuck you.” I bit down on her earlobe, tugging gently, eliciting a delightful whimper she tried to hide from me. Her breath caught as she hesitated, like she couldn’t bear to taste my name on her lips. Then she gave in to what we both wanted when she practically spat at me, “Just because I want your dick doesn’t mean I don’t still hate you, Orion.” I smirked, loving the sound of my name on her lips as she all but begged for me. As she forced herself to submit to me. “Good girl.”
I think o need an audiobook version of this. I need to hear Orion’s voice say all of these unhinged things.
Without ceremony, she rose off me, swiping my shirt where I’d tossed it and throwing it on. Some primal switch flicked in me seeing her in it, the way it reached the middle of her thighs. The way it covered her in my scent.
“But Dev, I wish you could see yourself through the eyes of those who love you. You are one hell of a force to be reckoned with, exactly as you are. Allowing people to love you doesn’t make you less. To lean on others doesn’t make you weak. To let others fight beside you, with you, doesn’t mean you’re not capable of fighting for yourself. You don’t need any of us, which makes the fact that you want us that much bigger, more important.”
Blaze was the only true brother I’d ever had, and the only one that mattered.
