Then comes the moment, at the heart of the psalm, that I regard as one of the great lines in all of scripture, a moment that draws together Genesis and Proverbs and looks on to the poetry of Saint Paul. God has created the world in such a way that the great lights of the sky—the sun and the moon—bring order to the life of animals and humans alike.
