Still, even with all the love I had to give my baby, I wasn’t sure if I was capable of being a good mother to her. Mama’s emotional abandonment and ensuing abuse during my formative years had left me with one horrific model for motherhood. All I’d learned from her was what not to do, from there I was lost.
