“Emmy, from the moment I saw you on the balcony of the motel, I knew you were an extraordinary woman. I want to spend the next few months with you. Will. You. Marry. Me.”
I like her. The truth is, I lust. For her.
With an exhale, she signs the papers while I stare out the window, grappling with how to endure a marriage to Emmy without, fuck, getting feelings.
There are good men who’ll worship you like the queen you are.”
“This isn’t about the NDA. I don’t want him near you, Emmy. You’re my wife, and it worries me that he might hurt you. Don’t you understand?”
The truth is that I long for him with every ounce of my being, and I can’t deny it any longer, not the sparkle in his eyes when he smiles, his dimples, the way his nose flares slightly when he’s near me yet doesn’t make a move.
“That’s my wife you’re drooling over. Stop.”
Come out of the dark and embrace the sunshine. She’s sunshine.
“I’m sorry, darling. I’m yours, I’m here, and I’m not leaving. I came back from the dead—for you.”
