How then have we ever come to characterize God’s interference with human free will as unloving and disrespectful—something a gentleman supposedly would not do? Some may respond to this reasoning by saying that while God may “woo,” he never compels, and the difference is that the right and ability to say no to this wooing always remains with the human will.
