“Why was a girl looking for you at the party, and why were you sneaking around her the entire time?” His knife scrapes across his plate and it makes my teeth hurt. The high-pitch noise fills the void of silence in the room as I try to come up with an answer that doesn’t make me sound insane. “I wouldn’t call it sneaking,” I utter, cutting up my own food. “She asked me if I had seen you, and you stood behind her flapping your arms at me,” Kas grunts, shoveling eggs onto a slice of toast. “That’s because I had to be stealthy, we have an unconventional relationship.” Kas nods hesitantly.
