According to CSIS, left-wing violence nearly doubled in 2020 and 2021. In the three years prior to 2020, left-wing violence accounted for only 5–11 percent of domestic terrorist attacks and plots, but in 2020, it was 23 percent, and in 2021, it was 40 percent.
