“You had so much to live for,”
“Roxanya Vega was right to deny your bond when it was offered,” my mom added. “Because it was the push you needed to find yourself, to become the man I had always known you could be. You set out to prove yourself worthy of her love, but in finding what was needed to do so, you became so much more. I have been proud of you from the first moment I held you in my arms, but I am honoured to have been there to watch you step into your destiny as fully as you did.”
If she refused our fate, then I would too. I would fight with whatever power remained to me and use whatever I could to see an end to this injustice. If there was any way for us to reunite our souls once more, then I would give all I had to do so. There was only her. My one, my only, my wife.
“I believe she prefers her friends to call her Tory.” His jaw tightened. “I think I know what my wife prefers. And I am no mere friend.” A growl rumbled in my chest, and
“When one falls to the dark, the other shall be their guiding light,” Merissa murmured with a frown, those words familiar to me.
“The one where I swore to love and protect your daughter with all that I was for all the time I had in that world and the next. The one that I joined her in when she vowed to change our fate at the cost of the stars if that was what it required. She has sworn to defy destiny in the matter of my death, and I have sworn to do all I can to defy it too. So will you help me, or would you rather allow your distaste for me to leave her grieving and alone for the rest of her life?” I demanded. Hail sighed heavily. “I preferred the blonde one,” he grunted.
“Her father was an arrogant piece of shit who had no time for me whatsoever,” I snapped. “Wow. Sounds familiar,”
“Just waiting for my daughter’s poor choice to move aside, and I’ll be on my way,”
If there was a crueller fate than being parted from her in death, it was standing here now sensing her own death on the air. And it bound my soul in terror.
Those words left me both proud and terrified as the beastly king stalked closer to claim another member of my family. Not her. Not my little darling.
“Says the Savage King,” Marcel taunted. “You know exactly why I was given that name,” I hissed, pointing at him. “No, do remind me,” Marcel said, innocently. “Or will you be holding another seminar in The Room of Knowledge like last time?” “I have a right to clear my name.” “To every soul who walks through The Veil?” Marcel taunted. “Seems a little overkill.”
“Is this even going anywhere?” I demanded. “So far, all you have shared is some bullshit origin story.”
I believe, had you stayed in the realm of the living, you would have made an…adequate husband to her.” “Had to cut me down at the last moment there, didn’t you, relic?” he smirked. “I cannot have you growing a bigger head than you already have, poor choice,”
I gasped as I took in the crown of silver and blue which she’d taken from my treasure hoard and placed upon her head, the obnoxious smirk on her sinful lips which had never once failed to get a rise out of me. She knew.
“Mine,” I growled, moving closer to her. But the word was no claim on the trinket she’d stolen to place upon her brow. My claim was for her. The true treasure in that room. The only thing I ever needed to claim anymore.
I wasn’t sure I saw any value in having just witnessed Felisia fucking her best friend, but apparently, I’d had no choice in the matter.
“When it comes down to it, you’d burn the entire fucking world to ash for a single smile from her lips, wouldn’t you?” “Is there a problem with that?”
Even in defiance I’d been his pet, his prize, his protégé. The Heir with the crooked crown.
“Good palace. Daddy Hail is here,”
“Get fucked, Lame Lionel!”
“That’s my boy,” Radcliff said. “He’s my boy,” Catalina growled,
I met a girl who took one look at fate and said fuck you. She found her own path. She told me no when the stars gave us our one and only chance at being mated then told them no when they tried to keep us apart against her will. She stood before the wings of fate and told them to get fucked and she was right.
“The power of your love and hatred burned hotter than the sun, the constant tug and pull, a war unending and a passion unyielding. You were two stars always set to collide and cast the world on fire because fuck the consequences.”
Follow the fire.
“Apologies are for the living,” I said. “Your story is written. Your actions speak your truth now.”
“It’s not coming with us,” Lance muttered, and Gwendalina arched a brow at him. “Firstly, do not boss her around,” I growled. “Secondly, you have a point.”
“I shed you of the Acrux name,” I repeated louder. “I am proud to call you a Vega.”
“Live long, live well, and love fiercely, my brave boy. I will watch over you both in every day that is to come.”
“Crown the new queens, and weave a new path into existence, mother and father of the flames,”
“This is not the end.” “No, but it is the beginning of some fresh new hell,”
