“If you’re so concerned about my humanity, Elena, then reach into my soul and find it, because I’m not sure I have any left.”
I would do anything for you. If you ask me to move the sun out of your eyes, I will push it with my bare hands. If you ask me for the moon, I will wrap it in a purple ribbon and hand it to you. If you ask me for all the stars in the sky, I will create an entire galaxy, just for you. But if you ask me to let you go? Angel, you know I can’t do that. If you’re gone, then what else do I have to live for?
“You’d start a war for love?” “For Elena? I wouldn’t just start a war. I’d win it.”
“I think that’s the harsh reality of being a woman,” my mother continues, “we’re always so focused on everyone else, that we forget we need to take care of ourselves, too.”
