I’ve got as much curve as a two by four, and the sex appeal of a plastic bag.
Christian pulls a silver cigarette case out of his pocket
“She’s not fired. You are.”
In the middle of my sentence, he shoves two fingers into my mouth and presses down on my tongue to keep me quiet.
“I don’t want to hear another man’s name out of your mouth again, Elena.”
“I’m calling the police.” “With what phone, Elena?” God fucking damn it.
“If you’re so concerned about my humanity, Elena, then reach into my soul and find it, because I’m not sure I have any left.”
Christian bites his fist as if he’s trying to keep some semblance of a filter on his mouth.
I refuse to let this man do any more damage to me or this city.
If anyone needs an escape right now, it’s me.
“Do you remember what you said to me in the gym after I was shot? About how if anything happened to Elena, I’d do far worse than fire you?” His face turns three shades paler as I crack my neck and point my gun at his forehead. “Consider yourself lucky that I’m making it quick.”
