“And what lesson is that?” I asked, stepping toward her. “That I should be more like everyone else? More like you?” I laughed sarcastically and shook my head in mock pity. “You’re a liar who insists everyone else tell the truth,” I said. “You’re a cheater who demands everyone else play fair.” I paused for effect, then sneered, “I’d rather be dead than be like you.”
“I’m out of cigarettes. Go get us some,” he mumbled, “and I’ll owe you forever.” He took a clumsy step backward and pressed a set of keys into my palm. I stood there, unsure of what to do. Mistaking my confusion for reluctance, Steve nodded and waved a finger at me again in some unspoken understanding I had no part of. “Right,” he slurred, reaching into his pocket and handing me a thick wallet. “Gotcha. Get whatever you want,” Steve said.
Bold faced lie lol. Have you noticed that whenever she’s about to do something *truly* bad she softens it? She obviously killed the cat. She obviously took a passed out dude’s wallet and keys.
