Firstly, why, if species have descended from other species by insensibly fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumerable transitional forms? Why is not all nature in confusion instead of the species being, as we see them, well defined?

We were taught in Sunday School to ask this question to any teacher trying to "indoctrinate" us with the evil theory of Evolution. I don't think many of the Sunday School teachers bothered to read Darwin's answer.
