I hated the phrase drama queen. It implied that women were more sensitive and driven by feelings than men, which couldn’t be further from being true.
“Are you going to eat, too?” he asked after swallowing the first bite and licking his lips. “You always get food and drinks for other people but never yourself.”
“You should request a better spot so you’re not walking across this entire garage by yourself at night,” Julian said, assessing the situation with his hands on his hips.
“Then stop shrinking away from me and come over here.” He raised a brow. “I won’t bite.”
“Why did you even volunteer to be my date?” “Because I didn’t want anyone else to.”
When Julian finished, he stepped back, appraised his work, and then muttered three words beneath his breath that momentarily halted mine. “There she is.”
“Juni has a way of surprising everyone.” But it had nothing to do with knowing impressive people.
And everything to do with being one.
“Kissing you feels like living, Juniper.”
Jealousy looked good on Julian Briggs.
“What happened to just existing?” “At this point, I don’t even know how to do that without you,”
“Please don’t make me go that long without kissing you ever again.” “Ever again, huh?”
Her smile turned knowing. “Disappointed?” “Disappointed?” I stepped inside, shutting the door behind me. “To see you as soon as I walk in the door? Never.”
“We haven’t even gotten drinks yet, and you already know you want a second date, huh?” “Second date?” He chuckled. “No, Daisy. I want all the dates. Every date.”
She’d always been perfect. But I’d realized recently the only thing I ever wanted to change about her was her last name.
Juniper was passionate about the world, and I was passionate about her.
“You’ve always been there, and you’re part of me in a way that no one else in this world is. I don’t know how to explain it, but you’re…you’re the person I think of when I think of home.”
“I love you,” Julian gasped again between rough kisses and exchanges of heavy breaths and longing sighs. “I love the way you smell and the way you smile. I love your laugh and your lies. So many, many lies we’ve told, Juni.”
“I love you.” Julian’s gaze burned as he absorbed my words. “I love you, too, Daisy.”
