Sera’s grip tightened on the cane. “What the hell do you want from me?” “I want you to touch me, Seraphine.”
“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “It’s too late.” He hummed in response, then turned slightly, pressing a kiss to her palm.
Insufferable bootlicker.
You spent way too much time on my hair. And why is my head so massive? He paced, waiting for her reply. I know, right? I’ve been asking myself that since we first met.
She shook her head. “I’ve never killed anyone.” “Not for lack of trying.” She dropped her gaze to where she had stabbed him.
No, he could not go back. He could not afford to free-fall into lust.
Sera sagged with relief. “That was close.” Ransom tapped his finger against her lip. A warning. Hush. She snapped her teeth, nipping it. He dipped his chin, his lips brushing against her ear. “If you want to kiss me, just say so.” A delicious thrill rippled down her spine. Yes, her body screamed. Yes, yes, yes. She rose to her tiptoes, her nose brushing against his. “You’re projecting, Ransom. You know I prefer stabbing you.”
