I had some seriously conflicting thoughts about Adrian. He appeared to be charming. He was incredibly attractive. For the record, I had never been anti-mate. I was anti-having my heart ripped out—and that was the only mate experience I’d had thus far. As best as I could tell, he didn't anticipate finding a mate any more than I did.
