At death, our material bodies cease to function, but our soul continues to live. Remember, humans are both body and soul. At death, our physical bodies, which are part of who we are, die. Whether our bodies succumb to disease, a fatal accident, or the relentless aging process, we return them to the dust. Ecclesiastes tells us, “All are going to the same place; all come from dust, and all return to dust” (Eccles. 3:20). This is not good news.
