Oftentimes we get so hung up on accomplishing goals or relying on techniques or methods that we don’t allow that piece of ourselves—the piece that lets the horse know we can be trusted—to shine through. We can’t force our horse to trust us. It doesn’t work that way. Trust is something that must be earned. It has been my experience, however, that once that trust is earned, all the goals are so much easier to accomplish. In the end, all we really have is ourselves and our horses.
