Unfortunately, we humans are simply not programmed to think that way. We’re programmed to think that we’re smarter than our horses and that our decisions are always the right ones . . . for both of us. Over the past several years, it has come to me that, perhaps, in order for our horses to truly look to us as a leader, there needs to be some give and take in the relationship we have with them. In other words, perhaps we need to give them half a chance from time to time, so we can show them that their judgment in certain situations can, in fact, be trusted.
