This fallacy assumes that if a majority agrees that something is true, then it must be true. This is the type of argument that ancient astronomers forgot to tell Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo. Even though people ought not to uncritically accept whatever the government declares is legal, the fact remains that many people do.
