no one discussed the issues he raised or his qualifications but they did bring up his appearance. “He’s still hot,” and “Take your shirt off, Robby,” were among the posts. It was a reminder that men, too, can be objectified and that seriously good-looking people are not always taken seriously.

It was one more time in his life when morality and integrity had resulted in the punishment of Robert Bravermann.

But I will admit I’ve enjoyed my little sips of fame. I’m not averse to admiration if I’ve earned it, but that’s not why I write. I like when people connect with my work, which is a form of love, an antidote to our universal loneliness. I also enjoy making people think and pissing them off when I show them the God they believe in is the biggest fame whore of all. That God did not create a safe, happy humanity free from death and suffering. That God is needy — someone who demands recognition and must be worshipped before he ends a bloody and unjust war, cures a child’s cancer or frees us of the “ego addiction” that brings so much pain. That God is infamously jealous of other gods and he always has been.
