The nature of our negative core beliefs and fears is that they are protective and limiting. They are ossified, habitual ways of thinking that we adopted long ago in order to cope with life as best we knew—at the time, anyway. If negative core beliefs are there to protect us and help us cope, then we may never really want to learn about what it is that we are protecting ourselves from, right? The whole point of coping mechanisms is to avoid that negativity!
