The key words in the previous paragraph are “TV” and “bulldozers.” These are man-made devices that, like rockets and artillery and war planes, and like the most expensive individual artifacts ever made by Homo sapiens, nuclear submarines, do more to comfort chicken-hearted underlings, should they be ordered to commit atrocities, than any inspirational speech by Columbus or Heinrich Himmler.
