Boardman reports some early cures. For example, in an accident, the son of another physician broke both bones in his forearm; the physician’s brother, a surgeon, set the bones and required that the splints and sling would be necessary for at least six weeks. That night, the child asked Jesus to make his arm well, and the next day asked for the sling to be removed. The father and uncle reproved him, but the boy was so insistent that the surgeon uncle finally undid the sling to show the boy that the arm was not yet healed—only to discover that it was.
