The alternative name by which Bigfoot is also known, Sasquatch, is an Anglicized version of the term sasq'ets (“hairy man”), from Halq'emeylem, the dialect used by the Sts'ailes people in British Columbia in Canada (though other accounts suggest that this name may be derived from the term se’sxac, for “wild man”, in the same dialect).
