You already feel like my daughter, and I love you just as much as if you always were.” “You do?” “I do.” With that, I rise from my seat and quietly shut the bathroom door behind me. Quickly undressing, I sit into the tub beside her, pulling her close into a warm embrace. “From now on, you’re officially stuck with me as your mom. Did you know you’ve called me that a few times already?” “I have?” My palms embrace her soft, apple cheeks. “You’ve said ‘Ammi’ twice now, and I fell in love with you each time. So, please, call me Mama. Or Ammi. Or whatever else you’d like. I won’t take no for an answer.”
