he says in his usual smooth, elegant voice. I shiver at the sound, feeling the way it sweeps over and through my body.
“I was pissed,” I whisper, “because she was touching you. I’d have been angry if I’d seen her with someone else. But touching you…” I can’t finish. Because I don’t understand the words that would follow. You’re mine.
“I like feeding you,” I tell him, setting the frozen contents on my counter and shutting the freezer door with my free hand. “I enjoy taking care of you. And I really like that you let me.” “I need you,” he whispers so damn quietly that I have to question whether I hear his words.
Despite being bigger than me, Egon somehow folds in on himself so that I can wrap him in my arms. Like he needs to be cuddled. He needs to be the softer one.
“Who do you belong to, Egon?” I can’t stop myself from asking. His grin is wide. He blinks, his eyes focusing on me when he answers. “You. Only you, Rakesh.”
A warmth spreads through my chest as I stare at him. He’s mine. That’s fucking horrifying.
Every need or desire I had no idea I had. Every little broken piece inside me. All those neglected shards that made me feel weak, worthless, and unwanted. Since the day Rake walked into my life, I was seen. He acknowledged all those pieces.
My chest hurts. Breathing hurts. Everything hurts. I think I love him. But he doesn’t love me. And now I’m broken beyond repair.
“I love you, too,” he whispers. “Don’t be afraid to say it.”
“So much,” I manage to say. “I love you so much, Rakesh. I just don’t know how to tell you.” “You just did, baby.” Yes. I did. I’ve never felt more at peace.
I make sure he is well taken care of. Make sure he knows that he is the only reason I live and breathe. Yes, I hear myself. Fucking dramatic. My mind is turning into one of those sappy Hallmark movies. Pathetic.
“I want you to take my name,” he says, his fingers moving to the back of my head. “Egon Aahnu,” he murmurs. “The perfect fucking way to make sure everyone knows you belong to me.”
Egon Wolf, I will make you my husband tomorrow if you’re not careful with where you’re going with this. I already told you, you’re mine. I will never let you go now. So, we can get married now, next week, next year—I don’t care. Makes no difference to me. You’re mine.
“I’m really not. I’m not friendly, not kind, not courteous, not thoughtful.” “You’re all those things to me,” he argues. “Because you’re the sun that I’m orbiting around. I will love you until the stars stop burning. You aren’t just my world, Egon Wolf. You’re my entire universe.”
“If I’m the universe, you’re everything in it. You can’t have a universe without the stars and the moons and planets and asteroids.” He waved a hand. “You complete me. You make me whole. And when you take all those things away, I’m fucking empty.”
But I want to show you the world. I want to make all your dreams come true.” This man who thought he wasn’t going to be good at relationships makes me swoon every damn day.
“The way you look at him…” Though I roll my eyes, I can’t fight the smile. “He’s… mine.” There have never been words to describe what this man is to me. I doubt I’d ever find any.
