I sent a giant heart after that text, because what else did you do to tell someone you loved them bunches?
“If you were my girl, there wouldn’t be anything that would keep me away.”
“You should probably put him on notice then, sunshine,” he murmured with a slightly crazed grin. “Of what?” I whispered. “Of the fact he’s about to lose his girl.”
“This looks like more than just a bad day…but we can go with that story if it makes you feel better,” he said, reaching out to brush a tear from my face. All thoughts escaped me as I watched him bring the tear to his lips. He licked it off.
“You know who I fucking am. And don’t you fucking say his name again, or I’m going to choke you with my mother fucking cock,” Ari Lancaster growled.
“Oh shit, she found out, tried to leave, and you tied her to your bed,” he interjected, his voice a little...excited. I frowned. “Um, that was oddly specific…but no. Wait—you sound like you have personal experience with that. Do you have a story to tell me?”
Obviously, he was being obtuse now. And trying to butter me up because blueberry waffles were my favorite.
Ari's gaze was filled with pain as he continued, "I can’t watch you be so miserable. I can’t be the reason that all your light fades. I love you enough to let you go, to stop forcing you to be with me.”
“I’m sorry I broke my promise to make you happy, sunshine. I’ll never be over you. You’ll always be the love of my life.”
