They were frozen like posed mannequins.
It was strange to be in this mindset–the one that prioritized survival over ethics.
She thought about how the men she’d just killed sounded normal. They walked like humans… there wasn’t that uncanny awkwardness that they possessed. They didn’t have that dead, glazed-over look in their eyes. Their eyes were wide with jubilation.
Perhaps, no matter how civilized or educated we are–in the end, we are all just wolves disguised as men.
Perhaps the biggest mistake was, indeed, mercy. In a world such as this–one that sees not in shades of grey, but red–mercy is nothing more than stupidity.
In the end, no one is truly innocent.
