“Where’s Hailey?” I raise a brow. He runs a hand through his white hair and glares at Raine. “She wasn’t there. I don’t think she ever was.” He shoots Raine a suspicious glare. “We’re taking the south exit so we can take a straight route out of the city.”
“Well, we tried. Let’s get outta here, babe.” He shifts off of me and stands, offering me his hand to help me up. He pulls me close and whispers so only I can hear. “Destiny is a bitch. I only saw two ways for us to go. This one has passed, so our fate is set now.” My bones chill at his cryptic words.
I have no choice but to accept the ruinous world for what it is. I understand Elias a little more now.
Elias shoots Arthur a warning glare and he retracts his hand in accordance. “I know where Edgar is. Will you join me in fast-traveling to Alkrose?” My eyes widen. “Edgar? You know Edgar?” I clasp Arthur’s hands and tears brim in my eyes. “Please take me to him!”
“Infinity is the strongest Nova we’ve ever known. I promise you, he can do more than summon the Void.”
He lied to me. This was his plan all along, to bring the hell that I’ve come to know to the capital. The idea sinks deep within me to my center. So why don’t I feel angry? Why don’t I feel disgusted or want to escape my lovely assassin?
