“Hide your feelings, hide your fear, and most importantly, hide behind your facade. No one can know, Paedy. Trust no one and nothing but your instincts.”
“A dimwitted Enforcer is a defeated empire.”
“If you cannot endure suffering, you are unfit to dole it out, Enforcer.”
Perhaps you may not need powers to be powerful.
“Every girl deserves something equally as pretty and deadly as they are,”
This stranger and the man who raised me look nothing alike, and yet, the image of one crippled on the ground seems to bleed into the other. I suddenly feel like that little girl again, standing idly as my father died beneath me.
“I must be able to guard my head from those trying to get into it.”
INTRODUCING YOUR CONTESTANTS FOR THE SIXTH EVER PURGING TRIALS: KAI AZER ANDREA VOS JAX SHIELDS BLAIR ARCHER ACE ELWAY BRAXTON HALE HERA COLT SADIE KNOX My eyes scroll down the list of names quickly. And then my heart skips a beat. Maybe a dozen. Because the final name scrolled in large letters for all to see is far too familiar. PAEDYN GRAY
Her eyes, her smile, her tone—all of her screams the two words. Screams the title she’s bestowed upon me.
“And what was your title, again? The Silver Savior?” I huff out a quiet laugh. “Fitting. I know how much you love silvers.”
Vicious little thing, isn’t she?
“Mark my words, Prince, I will be your undoing.” I lean in, ignoring the knife against my throat as I murmur, “Oh, darling, I look forward to it.”
If I am to be her enemy, I want it to be because she loathes herself for wanting me.
She’s so stunning, yet so stubbornly oblivious to how the sunset behind dulls in comparison to the vibrance that is her.
“Darling, I doubt that the sight of someone dying would affect me as much as you do alive and well.”
“Vicious little thing,” I murmur under my breath. “You don’t know the half of it, Prince.” “Oh, but I hope one day I will.”
“And I’ll save your life again and again, aimlessly hoping you will allow me to stay in it.”
“Your smile.” I cut him off before his offer can tempt me. “I like when you truly smile. When you’re not wearing the mask of the future Enforcer or the prince, and you simply allow me to see you. It’s a smile I wish you would share with me more often.”
