Music was a way to process my pain, but that afternoon, I found myself writing lyrics about a cowboy’s pain and the storm in his eyes.
“I’m not going to push you, Little Song, but you need to know you’re safe with me.”
“That man’s a cowboy, sweetheart. Cowboys only love once, and they never stop.”
“You are anything but normal, Harmony Green,” he whispered. “You are a gift to me.”
“Things just a got a little bit more complicated for us.” “Life’s too short for complicated. Simplify it and live.”
“Why Evergreen?” I asked. He looked toward the house for a moment. “Hallow Ranch was my dream, PBR yours. Wanted to make sure you had it,” he answered, looking back at me.
“When my wild boy asks you to sing for him, remember we can hear your songs. There’s power in your voice, daughter, use it.”
“I forgive him, Momma. I forgive Denver for the sins he didn’t commit. Take care of our wildflower for us, yeah?”
