Why would you wing me?” He shut his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Because I’ve lost my angels-damn mind.” He spoke so quietly that I barely caught his words over the thumping in my chest. When his lids reeled back up, his irises, usually so vivid and clear, were full of thunder. “Because I’m a selfish man, who has so little to offer, yet wants everything in return.”
