Delusional Grandiosity A defining characteristic of narcissism is grandiosity, which shows up as exaggerated beliefs about the person’s importance in the world, fantastical beliefs about ideal love stories and their current or future success, a sense of superiority over other people and of a uniqueness and specialness about themselves not observed in others.
