“From this day on, I won’t be there to protect you from him, just like you weren’t there to protect us.”
“Aoife,” a young voice came down the line, followed by the sound of sniffling. “Aoife, can you come get us?”
“Me loves O-ee.”
Good. The current would take me quickly. All I had to do was let go. Just close my eyes and let myself fall.
“You are so important to so many people.”
“I’ll come back for you. For both of you.”
