It hit me square in the chest. “I know.” “Bad boy.” Her breath was laced with alcohol and so fucking warm on my face when she whispered, “Tell me you’re sorry.” I gave in without a fight, too weary and too damn in love to fight my feelings. “I’m sorry.” “How sorry?” “Very sorry.” “Good boy.” Her tongue was on my ear then, her body pressed flushed against mine. “Now, tell me you love me.” “I love you.” The words flew off my tongue in record time. “Say it again.” “I love you.” “How much?” “A lot.”
The sincerity in his voice and the vulnerable look in his eyes assured me that not only was my sister’s heart on the line here, but so was his. Poor fucker had gone and caught himself some big old feelings. For my sister, of all people. Go figure.
“You make me feel safe.” “Oh, Joe.” “I love you so fucking much it hurts.” “I know, baby. I love you, too.” “Don’t send me away again, Molloy.” “I won’t, Joe.” Her hand was on my hair again. “Shh, now. Just sleep it off, baby.”

Not when everything he’s never been given flows from you like a waterfall.” “No, I’m drama, remember?” I joked, feeling embarrassed. “You’re that, too,” she agreed with a smirk. “But my god, does warmth shine out from beneath that mischievous exterior of yours. It’s infectious.”
“It’s okay.” He inspected every inch of her like she was of the greatest importance to him, and I watched as the big lad was overcome with emotion. “Shh, baby, shh.” Seeing her hurt affected him. No, it was more than that. It crushed him. “Just calm down.”

“Well, it doesn’t matter what you want, Dar, because this right here is my life,” I shot back, shaking. “It’s mine to live, and I plan on living it side by side with her. Because news flash, asshole, that girl is my life. Her and our baby. And if she wants a ring, she’ll get it. And a house, she’ll get that, too. And if the time comes where she wants more kids, then I’ll give them to her. Whatever she wants. Because we’re mirrors. Her and me. We’re aligned. That’s my future, Darren, and if you keep meddling in it, then you won’t be a part of it.”
“Now, who’s up for a burger from the chipper?” Kav said no at the same time Shannon said yes, and I swear I’d never seen a lad do a one-eighty faster. “You want something from the chipper, Shan?” “Uh, maybe?” she replied. “If that’s okay?” “Anything,” he replied gruffly. “You can have anything you want, baby.” Beaming up at him, my sister reeled off her food order, while Kav hung on her every word.
