“I’d love to sail,” he purred, reaching down to squeeze my ass. “Down your river again.”
“You’re so smart, baby, with your science and your way with all the animals. My dog loves you. Brian loves you. My dick loves you. Fuck, you’ll be the sexiest vet I’ve ever seen.”
I love you Shannon Lynch. All of you. Every part.
(PS: My dick is still in my pants, and my love is still a crazy fucking amount.)
“Shannon, I love you, and I’ll be home soon.”
“You took a Fantastic fucking Four backpack to a tattoo parlor.” I shook my head and gaped at him. “What did you expect him to do, lad?”
“You’ve been looking at her?” I demanded, furious. “While I’ve been gone?” “Ah, just the normal amount,” he coaxed, as if the normal amount would placate me.
“Shannon like the river,” I called out to her, unable to stop the smile that was spreading across my face as I climbed down the rocks to get to her. “Are you gonna come hug me or what?”
“You’re back,” she sobbed, smearing my entire face with lip gloss as she peppered me with welcome-home kisses. “You came home to me.”
“But you’re early?” “I’m late,” I told her, stroking my nose against hers. “I should have been here all summer.”
“And I’m going to stand by you and support you, no matter what, for as long as you want me.” “I will always want you,” I vowed. “Fucking always. Don’t even say it like that, Shan. Christ.”
“What I mean is, if I’m the only reason you’re afraid to sign, then you need to do it,” she explained. “I mean it, Johnny. You’re not losing me. You can have both. I promise.”
“They all want you.” “I only want you,” I mumbled, pressing my forehead to hers. “You have me,” she replied softly. “Contract or not. I’m entirely yours.”
“Where you go, I go.” “Promise?” “I promise.”
“You always make me warm.” “You always make me hard.” I rolled my eyes and smiled to myself. “It’s been raining all night.” “Are you wet?”
“I have bigger balls than you, fatty,” Tadhg called back, laughing his ass off. “Just ask your mother.”
“Holy shit.” My feet came to an abrupt stop the minute my eyes landed on a tall blond with the face of an angel, sitting on the wall at the entrance of the school.
“What?” Darren demanded, looking around us. “Where’s the fire?” “There.” Struck dumb at the sight of her, and with all notions gone of continuing any further conversation with my brother, I pointed to the girl whose long blond hair was splaying all around her in the breeze. “Her.”
“Jesus Christ.” I blew out a breath. “I don’t care if you’re gay or not. You can’t deny that girl is the best-looking thing your eyes have ever seen.”
“She’s cute, but don’t throw your hat in the ring just yet. I promise there will be fifty more girls in your year that look just as lovely.”
“I don’t want fifty more girls,” I replied, twisting back to find her still watching me. “I just want that girl.”
“You saw me back there,” she stated evenly, green eyes snaring me. “I did.” “You kept walking.” I nodded like a fool. “I did.” “Don’t do that again.” Fuck me. “I won’t.”
“We both know that you’ll be calling me ‘baby’ by the end of the day.”
“So, should I spend more time with the male form in general?” she said, and somehow our fingers were entwined now. “Or with you? Because it’s safe to say that I’m impressed with the male form standing in front of me.”
“Is that your way of telling me that you don’t have a boyfriend?” “No, it’s my way of telling you that I will have a boyfriend once you ask me.”
“There,” she said with an approving nod, admiring her bright-pink bag on my shoulder. “That should do it.” “Should do what?” “Warn the other girls away.” “Warn the other girls away?” My brows rose up. “Did you just mark me with your bag?”
