it’s very difficult to keep fish stocks in balance without this information. They need this data to know how much they can fish, and when. They need it to set quotas to make sure there is a fair distribution between fishermen. Ignorance might be bliss in the short term, but not for long. There’s actually a pretty selfish reason to monitor fish populations closely. Countries need to if they want to have a profitable fishing industry in the medium term.
