Before dawn, the soldiers forced their way into the rector’s residence, where they found five Spanish priests, their Salvadoran housekeeper, and her fifteen-year-old daughter. The soldiers ordered them to lie facedown on the ground outside and executed them. When they came across a sixth priest, from El Salvador, they killed him, too.
