No neuron by itself is enough to achieve a complex task like recognizing a face, but by working together, small components can achieve larger tasks. Building on this idea, researchers created artificial neural networks. Instead of neurons and synapses, the artificial neural network contains nodes that are linked to one another in a web of layers.
