I promised myself I wouldn’t ever get involved with someone with addiction issues. Platonic or otherwise. I can’t go through that again. It reminds me so much of everything I went through. There’s an anger in me that still hasn’t gone away.

Loving an addict is a fucking nightmare. It’s a burden impossible to let go of. Your heart is tethered to a sinking ship.

I imagine it would be cathartic to see someone overcome their addiction after everything I went through

“Okay, first rule of dealing with addicts is that you have zero control over her addiction or actions. That’s her baggage. If she’s homeless or hungry, that’s not on you. You set boundaries, if she breaks them, there are consequences. She’ll see it like you’re giving her an ultimatum and will likely try to use it against you, but you gotta stay firm.
