Marvel Studios handed off the script to an in-house writer who did a pass that addressed all of the Creative Committee’s notes. In mid-May, around the time that filming was originally supposed to start, Marvel showed that revised draft to Wright—and he was horrified. The story hadn’t changed significantly, but swaths of dialogue had been altered, and references to the wider MCU had been shoehorned in.
