BCCI wrote off a $160,000 loan to an Atlanta consulting firm operated by Andrew Young, former mayor of Atlanta.[263] The loan had been made by National Bank of Georgia, which had been acquired by BCCI front man Ghaith Pharaon. Young had served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during the Carter administration.
