Jonestown Tragedy Tyree had been part of a team operating in Surinam and French Guiana, among other countries, and had insider information about Jim Jones and Jonestown in Guyana. Tyree wrote about former personnel from Army Special Forces groups training some of the enforcers at Jonestown prior to the mass murders and suicides. Tyree wrote that Congressman Leo Ryan who had traveled to Jonestown to investigate allegations of wrongdoings was to have been protected by an Army Special Forces team, but that the team did not appear until after the congressman had been assassinated.
