“You’ve never dealt with four insistent grandmas skilled at emotional manipulation, have you? They named a whole wing after my granny at the University of Guilt Trips.
goodbye. He probably made the same gesture to a hundred people a day, but my chest warmed up like he’d invented it just for me.
He had no right to be this gorgeous and this good of a hugger. He could have one or the other. Greedy to take both, really.
“I’m just saying, if that man likes you, he’ll find a way to see you, busy schedule or not.”
Zhara Gray liked this
“He’s not worth it,” I said, laying my head on his shoulder. He pressed a kiss to the top of my head. “Nope. But you are.”
“Darlin’, you ever want peaches, you come straight to me. I’ll pick you a whole bushel of the most delicious fruit you ever tasted.” The mischievous look in his eyes proved impossible to resist. I needed to give him a little of his sass back. “A bushel sounds like too much. Maybe I’ll just take a peck.” “Oh, you want a peck?” He tipped his head down, his sly grin hinting at naughtiness. “I’ll give you all the pecks you can handle.”

“She’s my teacher.” Jed’s eyebrows lifted. “She’s my girlfriend, little man.”
“Darlin’, my snuggles are only for you.”
Callie’s a forever kind of woman.”
soon. Because this man had my heart, and I wasn’t about to let him go if I could help
The weight of the day found me again, flattening me out, but I held her close. Like she’d become my talisman, my defender, and could keep those thoughts at bay.
“Opening myself up to him can be scary sometimes, but that’s how the love gets in.”
I was so thoroughly his, I didn’t know how I’d ever thought we wouldn’t wind up here.
“And I love you, too. I am embarrassingly, completely in love with you. I said I wouldn’t fall for you, but I did.”
“We co-captain all the ships.”
