“I merely feared, for a moment, that you would not want to touch something so unsightly,” he muttered, behind his teeth that were gritted with an anguish Hal wished he could somehow heal or wish away. “I do not think that you are unsightly, Kaiser,” Hal whispered: he stared down at his hand, where Kaiser’s pulse had accelerated upon hearing his words of reassurance.
“Is it not odd to you, that my body is like this? Do you not feel…” Hal averted his gaze. His throat tightened. Disgusted? he could not say the word aloud.
